And it takes a while to adjust the position for the best noise reduction. For comfort, I think it really depends on the shape of auricles. So I think the compact headset is the best for 121 operations. It is also decent for general aviation operations.November 3, 2019Durability4 / 5Reliability5 / 5Performance4 / 5Ease Of Use5 / 5Value5 / 5Would You Recommend?YesDescent jobLove the foldable size, and the reason why I use it in the jet, as the Bose A20 is too bulky on the road.
The quality is not as good as the Bose of course. But I expected it, and it does a descent job. Even used it in a Bonanza, although I would prefer the Bose in that type of plane.October 28, 2019Purchased

i've used this dc pro x2 for just 10h on a piper arrow and that headset is awesome! tried to switch inflight to the old headset and i don't understand why i waited so long before decide to changeOctober 1, 2019Purchased

Very comfortable indeed. Highly recommended to all my mates already especially after trying the Bose ProFlight and Clarity Aloft Pro for a few months each but didn’t like them and chose the DC ProX2.September 1, 2019Purchased

Great for jets and even pretty good in turboprops, but in my opinion, not enough passive noise reduction for piston powered aircraft(I have only used the original Pro X ANR, will send review of 'X-2). Super comfortable for long trips because on on ear design and zero clamping pressure. The cords feel a bit cheaper than my older DC ANR, but Dave Clark stands behind their product, so I know any issues will be promptly repaired. Battery life good and auto shut off is great! Wish they had a simple on-off switch instead of button that you need to hold down.July 29, 2019Durability5 / 5Reliability5 / 5Performance5 / 5Ease Of Use4 / 5Value5 / 5Would You Recommend?YesLuxurious ComfortAircraft flown: Cessna 172
Noise: Once the the speaker canals are PROPERLY aligned with your ear canals, turn on ANR and I could clearly hear every call without any issues or having to make any concerted effort.
Comfort: I tried out the BOSE A20s, and could feel the spring on the crown of my head. These are so light, I lightly put them on, and immediately thought, "Well, these are going to fall off." except they didn't instead they stayed perfectly. Wore them for a 7 hour IFR XC, no messed up hair, no pinching, clamping effect, or hot spots.July 2, 2019Purchased

I have two months left teaching and have been using Bose A20’s. I wanted something smaller, lighter, and easier on my ears/head. These are great! Half the weight, doesn’t clamp my head at all, super small when in the case, and the quality is almost a good as the A20’s in a Cessna! Took about a day to find where the noise canceling works best by fitting to my ears but once I found the sweet spot- it’s perfect. I would order these over my A20’s any day!Super light weight, barely notice I’m wearing them!June 21, 2019Purchased
5 months agoDurability5 / 5Reliability5 / 5Performance5 / 5Ease Of Use5 / 5Value5 / 5Would You Recommend?YesPerfect for 121 FlyingI purchased these headsets to replace my Bose Aviation X headsets. Currently I fly the CRJ 900 and the DC Pro X2's are the perfect headset in my opinion for 121 flying. They are very comfortable to wear and I can wear sunglasses without having them push into my head like when I wore over the ear headsets like the Bose X. They are much lighter and less bulky which is nice in the cockpit.
Performance wise it does not block out as much noise as an over the ear headset, but I don't need that flying in the CRJ and soon hopefully the Airbus. Don't get me wrong, the performance is great. I actually prefer the noise cancelation on the Pro X's, and you can hear more of the background noise but it's muted compared to the Bose X's that just cut out mostly everything. I like this because I can hear what is going on with the aircraft. Compared to my Bose X headsets I can understand ATC better on the Pro X2's. They come through clearer and I can understand the enunciation better.
I looked at the Bose A20's and Bose Pro flight to replace my Bose X headsets that stopped working in the left ear. I would have most likely gone with the David Clark's anyways, but when I called Bose up to get the X headset fixed they told me they no longer support it but would be happy to give me $250 towards the purchase of a new headset. That sealed the deal, because if they aren't going to support a 10 year old headset then I won't give them my business. I know David Clark will support my headsets for much longer than Bose.
The only complaint I have is the headset case. Please David Clark make it a hard case. For the money we pay for the headset it wouldn't have been much more to make a hard case for it. For the Airline Pilots like myself who bang up headsets in their flight bag moving between aircraft and going to hotels it would protect it much better with a hard case instead of the flimsy fabric case that comes with it. My solution was to find a hard case online for about $15 that fits it pretty well.
If you're an Airline Pilot then these are the headsets for you.June 15, 2019Purchased
6 months agoDurability5 / 5Reliability5 / 5Performance5 / 5Ease Of Use5 / 5Value5 / 5Would You Recommend?YesSmall Yet Noticeable ImprovementsAfter flying a few flights in a single engine turboprop and single engine piston airplane, the changes introduced to the Pro-X2 are small but noticeable. The narrower hinge points (due to oval shape) result in more stability on the ear. The improved auto shutoff is fast and leaves no concern of returning to the headset with depleted batteries. The Automatic Gain Control (AGC) seems to work well in both quiet and loud noise environments (turboprop + piston). In terms of aesthetics, the oval shape seems to resemble the classic David Clark headset dome, matching the look of many previous passive headsets. I would recommend this headset for pilots flying everything from small single engine piston aircraft to jets. It’s a solid, high quality, and comfortable headset.June 11, 2019Purchased

Browse 6 questions Browse 6 questions and 11 answersI’ve had the original DC Pro-X in the past. My only complaint was it seemed to move around on my head quite a bit. Does the new DC Pro-X2 seem to stay on your head better than the previous version? Thanks for any input.BEST ANSWER: The improvements to the design of the headset include a narrower hinge point on the now oblong green ear cups. In my experience this has resulted in a more stable feel on the head. Having owned the original DC Pro-X headset, I would recommend the upgrade. It's not a drastic difference, but it noticeably reduces the amount of time you spend adjusting and readjusting the fit on the head. I hope this helps! The ear cups spin which causes the headband to fall forward when I look down. the Pro-X's didn't do that. is there a way to secure the ear cups from spinning freely?BEST ANSWER: I never noticed they did spin. I just looked at mine and they do spin. I’ve found when I position the head band towards the rear of my head it stays out better. I also have tried different adjustments and found when the ear cups are lower on my ears it stays put better.
Depending on your fit it may differ but I’d suggest trying different adjustments to see what works best.Do the new ones have “ auto power on” when the avionics are powered up?BEST ANSWER: It does not have power on but does have auto off. What are the changes from the first version? The control modules would be slightly different.
