• Non-polarized
• Stainless Steel frames

Tips on how to choose a viewing power:

To select a viewing power, consider how you will be using your Dual Eyewear. If you are a pilot looking for a clear read of instruments, you might want to consider a magnification that is a bit weaker than what you use to read a book. For example, if you use 2.0 readers at home or at the office, try a 1.5. We recommend this because of the extended distance to instruments.

Why we don't sell polarized sunglasses
Many sunglasses today are polarized, meaning they use an optical filter to reduce glare. While this is fine for fishing or driving, it's a bad idea for pilots. That's because many cockpit instruments and glass panels have polarized faces, and polarized sunglasses will render these unreadable. In addition, the iPad screen will be blacked out in portrait orientation when wearing polarized sunglasses. Sporty's sells a wide variety of high quality sunglasses that do an excellent job of reducing glare--but without polarization.

Reader part of lens much smaller than in AV2
Pro: Incredibly light frames. Good tint.
Con: Frame color not as pictured. They arrived in a very shiny, silver finish that really stands out. The reader part is very small in this frame, compared to the AV2, which makes it more difficult to use. It is also lower than in the AV2, so you have to really look down. I'm returning the AV1 and keeping the AV2.

Looks good - but.....
I agree with other reviews. The reader portion is way too small and too low, rendering them pretty much useless. To look at the panel or any device not in your lap you will need to tilt your head all the way back. Sunglass part works and looks great but I would not recommend them if you truly need the readers.

Decent Sunglasses - Mpt the highest quality.
I expected a little higher quality than they were. Not that comfortable to wear. My wife said I looked like a Mafia Godfather.

Distortion
Negative:
Hard to use because the curved lens seems to distort my vision somewhat {a bit} and yes your head has to tilt backwards also for some views but only momentarily...

Plus:
-works really well for kneeboard...
-the lens curves around the sides of your eyes which blocks out sideways reflections and/or direct light. This is an excellent feature that many sunglasses do not have...

Great product!
The quality is good and I like the way they wrap around and protect you eyes from all angles. After searching around, this seems to be the only product out there that combines nice sunglasses with readers built in. My only complaint is that the reader portion doesn’t extend up high enough on the lenses to keep me from having to angle my head so much to read things. Other than that, they are great and I highly recommend them to somebody that is tired of having to constantly switch between glasses to be able to read and protect your eyes.

Do you get annoyed juggling glasses pens paper notes All of the many things one needs to keep track of in a plane . For me these eliminated the glasses crises . With a cord and slung around my neck I can read the small details in even the dimmest light. Freeing my thoughts to greasing my landings

Completely impractical for the cockpit. Viewing area for the readers is minuscule. I had to tip my head back as far as I could to see the instruments. Only practical for looking at your kneeboard. If you never look at the panal they will work otherwise don't waste your money.

Great Product
I was skeptical about these glasses since they had the word CHINA on them. However, after looking at my local optometrist stores and costs, I went ahead and purchased these. They worked perfectly for me. They are very clear to look through and were so convenient looking down at my notes and then back up to see VFR. It beats switching glasses back and forth for sure!

I love them!
I purchased the bronze colored lens with a 2.5 magnification. They are simply awesome & work better than prescription glasses costing hundreds more. If all you need is readers, these are a bargain. They are light, fit excellent under my headset, & the gradient lens are perfect for reading instruments & a GPS with a colored moving map. They come with a cloth cover & a nice hard-shell case. Buy them with confidence!

How does a diopter compare to 200 X glasses?
A shopper on Nov 21, 2016
I'm wondering if the arms will break the seal on my Bose A20 headset reducing the effectiveness of the noise cancelling?
A shopper on Aug 8, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The arms are very thin are do not influence the quality of the sounds underneath the headset. Did not use the use sunglasses in flight before for that exact reason but these are so thin that they are not interfering with the seal around the ears. the fact they are thin also makes them easy to take off and put on during flight.
These don't look like much of a gradient to the tint. Is the reader area less tinted than the rest of the lens?
A shopper on Oct 20, 2017
BEST ANSWER: No, reading area / lenses are same intensity of tint, but I have made very good experience with this product. It helps me to read dash-board easily and be confident in flight with no nead to use me reading pair of glasses. Go for it it is a good product. Regards Vaclav
