Tips on how to choose a viewing power:

To select a viewing power, consider how you will be using your Dual Eyewear. If you are a pilot looking for a clear read of instruments, you might want to consider a magnification that is a bit weaker than what you use to read a book. For example, if you use 2.0 readers at home or at the office, try a 1.5. We recommend this because of the extended distance to instruments.

Why we don't sell polarized sunglasses
Many sunglasses today are polarized, meaning they use an optical filter to reduce glare. While this is fine for fishing or driving, it's a bad idea for pilots. That's because many cockpit instruments and glass panels have polarized faces, and polarized sunglasses will render these unreadable. In addition, the iPad screen will be blacked out in portrait orientation when wearing polarized sunglasses. Sporty's sells a wide variety of high quality sunglasses that do an excellent job of reducing glare--but without polarization.

These sunglasses with readers are totally useless in an airplane where you have to read instruments or an I-pad on your lap or on the yoke.

Bad diopter placement
The glasses I like, but they installed the diopter too close to the center and too close to the bottom of the lenses. I had to send them back as they made me feel cross eyed when trying to look through the diopter. Sorry.

Great glasses
Lens quality and fit are excellent. Flat bows fit under headset very comfortably. Great overall fit and finish. Much better value than the other designer brands offered.

Pretty good considering the price
Light and large, good reader position, much better than stick ones. Frames a little flimsy, my first pair lost a lens immediately (Sportys replacement was free) and on the second pair the lenses have popped out several times but I am able to get them back in. Scratch easily, despite careful handling I now have several spots. I’ll buy a second pair though.

Excellent
Flying the RV4 the Dual AV2 glasses worked very well. The gradient lenses made outside viewing and iPad mini on knee board viewing very compatible particularly with the built in readers. Thin arms didn’t open up the Lightspeed earcups for noise Good product!

Best Overall Lens Material, Gradient and Readers a Plus
Optical quality is almost as good as glass, but unlike glass won't shatter when you drop them (a factor for anything but drugstore readers). Very lightweight, but nevertheless with tough lenses and frames. Gradient is a must on a sunny day - good protection looking at the brightness outside, while the gradient makes it possible to see the panel inside without having to wait for your eyes to adjust to the reduced brightness. Only drawback (ease of use issue) is that the small reader portion is so low on the lens that it is good only for things on your lap. To see the panel clearly requires that you tilt your head back. But at least the correction is there!

Work well in airplanes and autos
Close up vision is not what it used to be. At work I wear "reader" contacts. These sun glasses allow me to see close up and distance without me needing readers.

It's not easy to get out of the glasses case when driving and there are some imperfections in the lens at times looking at different angles. I also made a mistake in ordering a 2.5 diopter which works well for reading but not for viewing the dash while driving. I do like the coloring and the faded lens.
I cannot comment on the durability or reliability as I have not had them long enough to tell.

Tried them, not satisfied, maybe I'm not that blind yet
I bought these for helo tour flying in Hawaii. I really prefer polarized lenses for combating the glare off water, but thought I'd give them a try as they were cheaper alternative to other I was considering (Maui Jims). I wore them on first day. Found them to be light & comfortable on, but maybe too light. THey fell off my shirt where they were hanging & promptly went missing. I found the hard line of the readers portion blurry & annoying in restricting my field of view so that I couldn't wear them while preflighting or looking down @ radios. I don't use charts so the readers were not that helpful in the cockpit at all & made me move my head to avoid readers to do necessary instrument adjustments.
I hope to return them if I can relocate them...

Very good flying glasses. It was difficult to find good quality, non-polarized, gradient lenses for use in the cockpit. These would be good for driving as well, but I’m keeping them in the plane.

what are the dimensions- how wide are they?
dave w on Nov 21, 2016
BEST ANSWER: From temple hinge to temple hinge is 5 1/4". The profile was a little larger than I expected however it is working out. What I wanted in these glasses that I have not found in others is the copper color and the gradient tint. I found this works better reading charts, books, etc. The are light weight and work fine with headsets.
Is the correction for reading achieved with stick-ons or is the correction integral with the lens?
A shopper on Jan 13, 2017
BEST ANSWER: No they are not stick ons. They are manufactured into the lens. I really like mine, light weight and the gradient tent.
Are they glass lenses?
Richard A on Mar 27, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I don't think so. The quality of the lens is good, certainly not great but adequate for the price. I purchased them specifically for flying and found them acceptable primarily because I had them add magnifier lenses for reading at the bottom of the main lens. Very nice for reading fine print charts or iPad approach plates. The temples are very thin so they don't let ambient sound in. All in all an okay set that is cheap enough to throw away if you scratch a lens.
do the lens reduce glare?
A shopper on Dec 6, 2017
BEST ANSWER: They do reduce the glare.
