A must get!!
This book is probably one of the best investments I have made on a textual book. It clearly elaborates every topic discussed in the FAR/AIM and the pilot handbook. Whether you are on private, instrument, commercial, or CFI, I find this to be very useful. The wording on other text books may be difficult to interpret at times, but with this book, it clearly explains all using plain English. Others may say it is all over the place and disorganized, but I completely disagree. The way the book is structured completely covers material for all certificates pilots may be looking to obtain and if you question something, it gives you a reference. It gets straight to the point and like I mentioned earlier, it clearly elaborates those FARS that we have a difficult time interpreting. It’s so worth it! You will not be disappointed. Get this rather than spending money on worthless study materials! This is all you need for all certificates!!

Complex but packed with info
I am an Australian multi instructor and wanted to get my FAA ATP. I purchased this book based on reviews saying it was excellent albeit expensive. The first thing I noticed on opening this thick book was that pretty much every tenth word on every page is underlined to highlight it's importance. There is so much underlining that the reader can get a little lost with what is super important and what isn't. The print is smaller than normal and every page is jammed with writing with little spacing between anything, making it visually less appealing to read. It really should be set out over two or three books but that's neither here nor there, I'm just making a comment on presentation. Most people don't care about presentation so let's move on. The book appears to have everything you would need in it. One fairly solid reference point which is a massive plus. Is it going to give you the theory to answer every question in every exam, quite possibly yes? The book is also split into chapters so you can read what you need. I would say though that the junior student who wasn't going on to do CPL and then maybe ATP, should potentially look at a book more tailored to PPL theory only, but that's my opinion as an instructor or 5 years. There are plenty of pictures and the theory covers all the way up to ATP. Overall, after a day of coming to terms with the shear reading task ahead of me in this book, I am happy I purchased it and it really does appear to be an excellent knowledge source.

Pros: Good material, great layout. A must-read for anyone earning a Commercial certificate who wants to fly turbines. Cons: Could use some fresh or harder-to-find info. Good, but not obscure enough for me.

Pros: Awesome book. The clearest, easiest to understand, and most entertaining explanation to every aviation question. Extremely well indexed so you can find subjects quickly. Perfect for professional pilots or CFI's, but equally wonderful for private pilots to take the ambiguity out those questions that haunt us. Cons: Not a book to be read cover-to-cover. Great reference book when you have questions from time-to-time. Wish I had the book available during my 42 year flying career. Would have simplified my life! ... to answer quickly and with fun those questions that haunt every pilot.

Pros: TONS of info! Good graphics. Cons: WAY TOO MUCH UNDERLINING AND BOLD TEXT! This really clutters up every page. FAR references are just grouped together making it hard to tell what reference goes with what paragraph. A good reference book... until a reg changes. Lots of info and insight, but too cluttered with underlining and bold text.
