Three unique designs for all aviators

The fourth generation of Garmin’s popular D2 aviator watch includes a sleeker model for women and a premium model with built-in pulse oximeter. All three include a built-in GPS receiver that drives an HSI display, full airport database, compass, altimeter, and nearest airport function. You can even connect the watch to your Garmin avionics to share routes and flight data. Outside the cockpit, the D2 Delta is packed with everyday features, including Garmin Pay contactless payments, music storage, and multi-sport training mode. It’s the no-compromise smart watch for pilots.

Powerful aviation features

All of the new D2 Delta models come preloaded with a worldwide aviation database and incorporate signature aviation accents like dedicated direct-to and nearest airport buttons, as well as the option to input a customizable aircraft tail number on the face of the watch. A large, sunlight-readable, high-resolution color display with an LED backlight on the watch face, allows pilots to view data in most lighting conditions in the cockpit.

Customizable alerts

D2 Delta can help you track altitudes, fuel tanks, and more. Configurable pressure altitude notifications provide a series of vibrations when arriving at a selected altitude. A fuel tank timer vibrates at configurable intervals to help remind pilots to switch fuel tanks while in-flight. Finally, a cross track error notification triggers a vibrating alert when pilots deviate from an active flight plan.

Garmin avionics connectivity

All three D2 Delta watches include wireless connectivity with Garmin avionics, including the Garmin Pilot app and GTN 650/750 panel-mount navigators, so you can transfer flight plans and receive GPS position, airspeed, and more. You can even use the D2 Delta as a GPS position source for the Garmin Pilot app.

Multisport features

You’ll find plenty of uses for the D2 Delta outside the cockpit too. It comes preloaded with modes for running, golfing, cycling, skiing, workouts, and more. Use the heart rate monitor to track your next workout and stay active. It’s even waterproof to 100 meters, so you can take it swimming.

Everyday extras

Plus, the D2 Delta series includes the new Garmin  Pay™ contactless payment solution so you can leave your wallet at home. There’s even the option to store music playlists (up to 500 songs) and then stream audio via Bluetooth to a headset or audio panel. It’s a complete smart watch for your active lifestyle.

What’s the difference?

The premium D2 Delta PX features an elegant titanium gray diamond-like carbon (DLC) finish on a large, 51mm bezel. Especially useful in-flight and during high altitude activities, the D2 Delta PX exclusively incorporates wrist-based Pulse Ox to help monitor oxygen saturation levels. Includes DLC titanium band and black silicone band.

The D2 Delta S features a stylish rose gold-tone bezel and is lighter, sleeker and smaller than previous D2 models. At 42mm, the D2 Delta S is ideal for smaller wrists and comes with a beige leather strap that makes it easy to transition from the cockpit to a night out. Also includes a white silicone sport band.

The third model in the series, the D2 Delta, measures 47 mm and incorporates a silver titanium bezel, as well as a premium brown leather strap. Also includes a black silicone sport band. Offers up to 18 hours of battery life in GPS mode and up to 20 days in smartwatch mode.

Nice watch, but overpriced.
Very good quality, and like most highly technical electronic watches today, it has a learning curve. The background is too dark in my opinion and difficult to see in some environments.. The light is pretty dim too and doesn't help as much as it should. It connects easily with a cell phone and has many of the same features as a smart watch. Overall I think it's a good watch but the price is too high.

Nice watch, poor online shopping experience.
Coming from the second generation Tactix(Fenix), this watch is a huge step up. Garmin has certainly upped their game from a look and feel standpoint. The titanium wrist band has a great feel and appears quite scratch resistant at this point. There’s certainly a learning curve when it comes to getting all the features dialed in and understood, but the screen is nice and the button usage/key strokes needed to move through screens is fairly common sense.

The big gripe here comes more with the actual shopping experience. It took me 27 days to receive the watch. This wasn’t entirely Sporty’s fault (held for 3 days at customs, for example), but the fact that it took Sporty’s 11 days to actually ship the watch is unacceptable. For comparison, I received a package ordered from Amazon and shipped via regular shipping in 4 days.

Overall, happy with the product itself, although the Sporty’s shopping experience wasn’t very good.

Wish It Perfomred as Good As It Looks
Really nice looking "chunky" aviator watch that will get you noticed. However, what it has in looks it lacks in overall performance and battery life for a professional pilot IMO. It would probably be great for a private or recreational pilot as many of the aviation functions seemed best suited to that type of flying vice Part 121 or 135. With the GPS, Bluetooth and other functions sucking on battery life, it's disappointing the watch face can't be brighter than it is. It looks ok in low light but gets washed out in bright sun or other light. I bought this for myself initially but after about a month of wear, decided to give it to my older son in college for Christmas and got an Apple Watch Gen 4 instead which I'm happy with. The Apple Watch was only $800 BTW.

Is this watch have a digital format not the hands to tell time?
Jimmy W on Dec 11, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes. You can pick from any number of face styles including big numbers. If you don't see one you like on the watch itself, you can download and install an almost infinite variety via the Garmin app that pairs the watch with your smart phone.

I'm using a style that displays the time in huge numbers so I can read it without donning my reading glasses.
The Swiss watchmaker "Glycine" makes dual 24-hour watches, which are great for pilots because you can see both local time and UTC time shown BY THE SAME HANDS. This is accomplished by setting one of two bezels for one time zone and the second (concentric) bezel for UTC time. I bought one of these and it was great -- except for one significant detail: The "automatic" spring only lasts for less than 42 hours. In other words, you have to wear the watch ALL THE TIME to keep it running on time. The Swiss are a proud people (stubborn, actually) who seem unwilling to make such a watch that would use, instead of a spring, a long-life battery. So whenever I use this watch I have to shake it (or wind it), and THEN RESET it for time and date. What a pain! Can the Garmin D2 watch accomplish a simulated two-bezel effect for dual 24-hour time zones? Be aware that there are zillions of watches that show two time zones by placing a small round "clock face" somewhere inside the surface of the watch face. That is not helpful for seeing two 24-hour times zones shown by the SAME watch hands. My wish is to be able to plan a flight to leave an airport at, say, 8 a.m., local time, and immediately see what UTC time that is without having to do any calculations. The Glycine dual 24-hour bezels were perfect for this, but the watch was a pain in the butt to keep running. (I know that I can figure UTC times, but I'm terrible at adding and subtracting numbers.)
Edward R on Aug 20, 2018
BEST ANSWER: On the default watch face, the D2 Delta has a dedicated UTC hour hand. With that plus the standard minute hand. you can see the UTC time at a glance.
Is this watch compatible with an iPhone 11?

Is the screen easier to view(brighter) than previous models?
A shopper on Dec 6, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I didn’t have the previous model, but I will say I love this Garmin D2 Delta watch. I’ve never had an issue seeing anything on the face. The backlight is also sufficient in night ops. Hope this helps!
Is it water proof/ resistant; if so, upto what depth?
A shopper on Feb 4, 2020
BEST ANSWER: It's water resistant to 10 atmospheres, which is approximately 100 meters of depth. However, SCUBA diving is not recommended. Other water sports (e.g., swimming, skiing, and snorkelling) are okay.
Is there a material difference from the Charlie in screen quality?
ken o on Aug 27, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Former D2 Charlie owner here. In my opinion, there's no difference. The display specs are identical on paper as well. Also, in my experience, all LCD displays that are designed to be ambient light readable without a backlight look a little washed out when viewed in dark conditions _with_ backlight. Both the Charlie and Delta show this effect. That said, both are just fine and there's sufficient resolution so that the "jaggies" are almost unnoticeable. Great producrs.

Yoshi on May 5, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it will work in Asia.

Jacob C on Nov 27, 2019
BEST ANSWER: It does not link to Foreflight. It has a built in data base. Connect to any smart phone.
