The display disappoints, despite always-on, with low resolution (200 ppi, vs Apple watch 326 ppi) and no touch. Battery life on the other hand is superb, it easily lasts a week, so no daily babysitting necessary.
It takes a while (days for sure) to get used to the buttonology. Once you figured it out you will find a ton of functionality for all kinds of activities. Basic support of reminders and notifications coming from my iPhone works. No using this watch as a phone, but I’ve never used that function on Apple watch, either.
Apps - don’t expect much, it’s nowhere near the Apple experience.
I think it looks *much* better than my Apple watch, but 2-3 times the price is not justifiable.June 30, 2020Durability5 / 5Reliability5 / 5Performance5 / 5Ease Of Use4 / 5Value5 / 5Would You Recommend?YesVery nice watch for routine use and syncing with my phone. There’s a lot to this one and I’m still learning the bells and whistles!December 15, 2019Purchased

I've used this watch for about 2 months and I've gotta say, pretty pleased overall.
I used the black strap that came secondary with the watch, just a personal preference, but it was nice to have the option to change the bands. Swapping the bands is simple and only takes about 10 seconds, so you could easily use either one.
Currently in Air Force pilot training so I haven't had a chance to play with the in flight features, however I've got it set to auto map every flight once I get above the preset altitude of 1800ft. I can go back and look on my phone at where I was, what speed, what altitude, etc. This feature alone almost makes the purchase worth it. Even with all of the daily flight mapping, I only have to charge the phone every 5 days or so.
I can check the METAR and current altitude at the push of a button, and can read all group and text messages that come through discreetly without having to take out my cell phone.
It's reliable as an exercise tracker, and lets me know how many steps/flights of stairs I've taken, as well as if my goals have been met for the day. Haven't had a chance yet to use all of the sports features, such as golfing and running, but I'm sure it works great.
Heart rate monitor is useful as well. Seems accurate- when I'm nervous my heart rate goes up noticeably. :)
Connectivity to my iPhone was pretty straightforward, haven't had any issues related to the Garmin Connect app. Also, Spotify is now available. Sick.
Only minor complaint is that the silver outer ring portion isn't as durable as I would have hoped, and has some small nicks and noticeable wear. The watch face is fairly large, especially on my female wrist, so it does come into contact with more surfaces throughout the day. This is with casual use, and is totally cosmetic, but if you're very active it may become a bigger issue. For the price I'd like to see more durability.
Overall though, no complaints. Moving into a crew airplane soon, so I'll have more time to play around with the in flight features. Will update!February 11, 2019

As in, does it go dark after a set amount of time, only waking in response to motion or button press? Thanks!BEST ANSWER: Sportys is great and I buy lots from them, so the following is not a reflection of them. Re: the watch, what you see in photos, I believe, is the sticker that is on the watch to show what the display is like. I found the actual screen brightness to be too dark and there was no way to adjust the brightness. When flying I found I needed it to be brighter (there are some forums online with reviews where people have stated concerns about this). For this reason, I returned the watch. To specifically answer your question, I don’t believe there was a feature where it would go dark after a period of time but I didn’t get into all the features because i returned it fairly quickly. I hope this is helpful. How well does it work w/ iOS on a iPhone for text messaging and inbound calls?BEST ANSWER: Works great!
