1 month agoDurability5 / 5Reliability5 / 5Performance5 / 5Ease Of Use5 / 5Value5 / 5Would You Recommend?YesSimple and ReliableThe competition makes a proprietary adapter that doesn't work with the most popular aviation headset. What is up with that? Sporty's has always used a simple adapter that works with a simple two wire PTT plugged into it. The circuitry of the radio works with the PTT to eliminate that squeal that is standard on the competitor's junk radios. I tried the competition twice and was always disappointed. Ask this question at the competition's web site before you buy their radio, "Why does the radio side tone sequel when using the headset/PTT adapter?"September 6, 2019Purchased

Thanks! The printed catalog lists a '6-pin LEMO adapter.' Would I need to buy a LEMO adapter IN ADDITION to the regular 'radio-to-headset adapter', or can I substitute one for the other? IOW, can the LEMO adapter plug directly into the SP-400?Headset Adapter (for all Sporty's Radios)BEST ANSWER: The LEMO adapter will not plug directly into the SP-400. You would need to go from the LEMO to GA adapter then the GA to SP-400 adapter. How would one use the SP-400 with a headset and still have intercom capability?BEST ANSWER: You wouldn't. The reason I have it is in case of an electrical failure (which has happened to me before) and I only have a few minutes before losing battery power to talk to ATC. With just the handheld radio, listening to it in a noisy plane is difficult, and speaking into it and being understood is equally difficult for ATC. However, with this adapter, I can simply plug my headset into it and it'll just be a shorter-range radio than my aircraft's radios.
In such a situation, I wouldn't be too concerned about being able to talk to my passengers with intercom capability. If I needed to tell passengers something, I'd shout it to them. Will this adapter alow me to plug my headset headphone and mic both into my Personal Computer as well?BEST ANSWER: This will not allow you to plug into the PC.
