1 month agoResponse from Sporty's Pilot ShopThank you for the review. Scan memory channels is done by using the Aviation Interrupt function. While on any source, simply press the Aviation Interrupt button and the unit scans your memory channels.April 9, 2019Doug RDurability5 / 5Reliability5 / 5Performance5 / 5Ease Of Use5 / 5Value5 / 5Would You Recommend?Yesmore than pleased with the scannerVery easy to use with great features. 1 month agoDurability3 / 5Reliability2 / 5Performance1 / 5Ease Of Use4 / 5Value1 / 5Would You Recommend?NoPoor quality performanceI intended to replace a Bearcat 220 which I have owned for nearly 40 years. It was repaired one time and finally gave up about two months ago. I bought the Sporty's Air Scan Radio/Scanner in the hope that it would make a good replacement. So far it has not! While the Bearcat 220 received acceptable audio from aircraft on the ground and in the air on the UNICOM frequency utilizing the small antenna attached to the unit. The Air Scan does not. On ground communications are garbled. In flight communications are also not as clear as the old unit. I plan to install an actual aircraft antenna, higher in the building; however, to say the least, I am not happy with my purchase at this time.March 13, 2019Purchased

Connected Bluetooth and played music from my iPod. Sounds good! Have yet to hook up an antenna for listening to aviation chatter, hence the low-stars for reliability and performance, as I don’t know yet.January 12, 2019Purchased

4 months agoDurability3 / 5Reliability2 / 5Performance1 / 5Ease Of Use4 / 5Value2 / 5Would You Recommend?NoExcellent idea, good design, fair quality, poor performanceAmazingly, this scanner does nothing really well. My hangar is about 1/3 of a mile from the transmitter for ATC and ATIS. Inside my hangar even with the doors closed my cheapo handheld has no problem picking up ATIS, ground vehicles, and aircraft reporting 20 miles out. This scanner can not pick up any of that even with the doors wide open where I can literally see the ATIS antenna a few thousand feet away . Likewise I have an old junkie AM/FM radio that can pick up most local stations. Again, in FM mode this scanner can pick up nothing.
To get any reception with this scanner, I have to put it on an extension cord and sit it outside my hangar on a stool.
I find it difficult to believe how pathetic the tuner or pre-amplifier is in this scanner.
Other than the fact that it has no reception, the interrupt function and scanning work ok.December 31, 2018
