The case is about 1/8” wider than my old King KT-76A and required the opening in my RV6A panel to be enlarged slightly for the transponder to slide in.
I love having the built in GPS, so there are no extraneous boxes behind the panel, and the price was much better than the other 1090ES options.
Strangely enough, the push button squak code entry is more difficult to enter than the old KT-76A rotary knobs, except in the smoothest air.
I did experience a “Lost Squitter, Trying to Recover” message on my 2nd and 3rd flight, once on the ground and once on final approach to the same airport, but it hasn’t occurred in the 8 flights since, including a couple over 2 hours. Message wouldn’t clear and ATC couldn’t see my squak until I cycled power and it immediately resumed normal operation. If it continues to fault I will be very dissatisfied, if it doesn’t I’m very pleased.July 3, 2019Purchased
2 months agoDurability5 / 5Reliability5 / 5Performance5 / 5Ease Of Use5 / 5Value5 / 5Would You Recommend?YesExtremely PleasedI have been flying with the Stratus ESG for over a year now and its performance has been flawless. I check the FAA’s ADS-B Compliance Report page about once a month and every report is nearly 100% perfect. The traffic on the Foreflight screen has huge safety benefits and, being ADS-B out, the traffic reports follow me everywhere I fly. Another big plus is having my Stratus receiver permanently mounted and powered from my aircraft. The Stratus powers up with the avionics master and automatically links to my iPad running Foreflight. For me it was the perfect solution.January 31, 2018Durability5 / 5Reliability5 / 5Performance5 / 5Ease Of Use5 / 5Value5 / 5Would You Recommend?YesBeen flying it for about 3 months.Pretty easy to set up. Pulled my AT150. This new tray screwed into the same holes! Easy setup to my aircraft ICAO code and passed the flight test. Couldn't have been easier.December 21, 2017
