World's Finest Portable Intercom Sigtronics originated the voice-activated intercom and now they've updated their popular Transcom II with features that make it the finest portable intercom available. Its rugged, shatterproof case includes an easy-access battery door that makes an in-flight battery change a snap. Dual power capability permits use of either the internal 9 volt battery (included) or an auxiliary 4 ft. power cord (included) that plugs into the cigarette lighter. Combines the convenience of “hands-free” voice activation with unique, fail-safe air traffic control monitoring ability. When you transmit to ATC, the cockpit intercom function is automatically disabled. However, since all transmissions are heard at each headset, it is a valuable tool for the instructor and the student who wish to monitor each other’s transmission. The headset mic is routed directly to the radio to provide fail-safe operation. Even in the event of a battery failure mid-flight, the pilot can still hear and transmit. Operates approx. 40 hours on a single 9 volt battery. Auxiliary output and input jacks allow recording/playback of ATC clearances or flight instruction with a cassette recorder. The Transcom II is designed to fit all your communication needs. Four way unit has two modules, each module measures 4"l x 2 7/8"w x 1 5/8"h. Operates on 11-34 volts. Five year warranty. Made in USA.

Works just as I expected, although the volume is a bit low. I’m bitbucket sure if it get some louder when plugged in, I only used it on battery.

Easy set-up
Although I haven't tried the additional box for the rear passenger area, the main box worked as expected. Easy to read instructions makes this product a great value without the expense of a permanent installation.

Pros: I hooked this up to my 1977 Radios and the intercom was as good as I could have expected. I didn't want to spend 2-3k on a new audio panel so this worked out to be a great solution. Used with Lightspeed it was a good as the garmin in the new airplanes Cons: A few too many wires all over the place but once you start flying you forget all about the wires.

Pros: Has plenty of volume in my noisy cockpit! I had an old Sigtronics 2-place intercom and I just couldn't hear the other person when my handheld radio was plugged into it! Cons: I have it plugged into the ship's power. If I forget to turn it off after the flight -- I think the two 9-volt batteries will keep going. Bottom line -- I have to remember to turn it off when not in use! Good value

I have a two seat intercom in my plane. can I use this to extend the intercom to the rear seats? Have a push to talk button on the pilots yolk.
Bill W on May 2, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Thats exactly the scenario for which I bought my intercom box. Two sets of headset plugs on the plane (A Socata TB-9). Plugged the box into the co-pilot headset plugs and plugged the copilot and two PAX into the boxes. So far I've only tried it on 2 live flights but the box works as advertised.
Does the aux input allow you to listen to music while flying? Does ATC transmissions automatically mute aux input?
Patrick M on Jun 6, 2017
BEST ANSWER: This input does allow you to listen to music while flying. It does not state that music is muted when a transmission is received.
Good afternoon. My question is that, I need both boxes ? And this system Works for a handheld Radio?
Charly on Oct 3, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes, the second box is for the back seat headsets. We also sell a two-place intercom with just one box.
