Bought two of the cheaper ASA headsets. They work great but are uncomfortable after a short use so I decided to upgrade to one of the David Clarks for me. Have only used it a couple of times but the comfort so far is great. Not sure the audio quality is any better than the ASA though it is acceptable. As to value; that's a tough one. The Clark cost almost triple what the ASA costs and I'm not sure it is three times better. Time will tell.December 6, 2018Purchased

Instructor said to buy David Clark. Don't buy cheapest. Sporty had $$ deal on this model, so I paid more to get the bargain. Went for a short flight w/ instructor to check on operation. I didn't work. During my "test" (reciting alphabet) it cut out 5 times. Sent it back to Sporty. Tech found nothing wrong. If so, then it was the plane system? Have yet to test it. Never even thought something beside the set could be missing. Why? I'm a new student. But can't some test gadget be placed in with the set that checks to see if the headset is ailing? Is there an approved machine "check" that is commonly available?November 10, 2018Purchased
1 month agoResponse from Sporty's Pilot ShopSorry for the trouble Jim. First, do you know if your audio panel is stereo or mono? That can sometimes cause problems, so match the headset to the panel (the 13.4 model is mono, the 13S is stereo). Next, make sure the squelch is set properly (and maybe turn off auto-squelch if your audio panel has this feature.November 12, 2018John ZimmermanDurability5 / 5Reliability5 / 5Performance5 / 5Ease Of Use5 / 5Value5 / 5Would You Recommend?YesGood sound quality. 3 months agoWould You Recommend?YesAmazing headsetThese are very comfortable and the overall quality is outstanding. Very lightweight as well. The durability is amazing but I would recommend buying a headset bag because the headset doesn’t come with its own headset bag but I did buy a Sigtronics headset bag from Sporty’s for $15 and it’s a good bag. The headset fits perfectly in the bag. I would definitely buy again.August 1, 2018Purchased

This headset took me from just after my first solo flight right to my commercial licence, and it's worked perfectly ever since. It's super comfortable so it's great for those long cross-country flights, and it's built really well so it'll stand up to any abuse it gets. It's nothing flashy; it's just a normal headset with no crazy extras and ridiculous functions, but what it does, it does perfectly and reliably, time and time again. And as for the price, you can't get anything half as good for anywhere near what this costs.June 29, 2018Durability5 / 5Reliability5 / 5Performance4 / 5Ease Of Use5 / 5Value5 / 5Would You Recommend?YesGreat headsetI purchased these for my passenger and it was a great choice. They are quality enough for for any use if you don't need or want noise cancelling.June 19, 2018Purchased

So far, it has lived up to its billing: comfortable, clear, well fitting. The gel ear seals are more comfortable than the foam ones but the headset still clamps down hard since it is not noise cancelling. The flexible boom mic is easier to position than the metal frame type.
This model is mid-range priced; not too cheap that it will break down in a year and not too expensive to break the bank. As a student pilot, it may be my first headset purchase and probably not my last. In the long run, I'm sure I will hand it down to my passengers, or keep as a spare.June 19, 2018Purchased
