History and Specifications:
Built on the successful A320 platform, the A321-200 was introduced in 1996 as the largest offering from Airbus. Measuring 22.9 ft longer than the A320 with more than 300 miles of additional range, the A321-200 is powered by either International V-2533 or General Electric CFM-56 engines. Cruising at speeds up to 561 mph and altitudes over 39,000 ft, the A321-200 rivaled Boeing’s impressive 757-200 in performance. Beginning production in 2002 with 415 orders, the A321 has now been produced by the thousands, with subsequent models continuing to increase passenger capacity and range for more cost-effective flight.
