First flown in 1957, the Lockheed L-188 Electra was the first large turboprop airliner built in the USA. With its unique high power-to-weight ratio, huge propellers and very short wings, the airplane had airfield performance capabilities unmatched by many jet transport aircraft even today—particularly on short runways and high field elevations. Utilizing large Fowler flaps which significantly increased effective wing area, it could ascend quickly and land smoothly with ease. Quickly gaining traction, many Electra’s were even modified for use as freighters. Die-Cast replica features detailed printed graphics, realistic landing gear, detailed 4-bladed propellers, and polished metal exterior. Measures 6”l with a 6” wingspan at 1:200 scale and includes a display stand.
