One of the most famous Flying Fortresses of WWII, “Bit O’ Lace” crossed into England shortly after D-day with the 447th Bomb Group. Leading the way for its first mission over France, “Bit O’ Lace” was at the forefront of more than 20 recorded missions between July 6th of 1944 and April 21st of 1945. Damaged on the 4th of April 1945, the aircraft returned to combat just 4 days later on the 9th. Demonstrating remarkable readiness, “Bit O’ Lace” concluded the war with 83 missions completed, none of which were aborted due to mechanical failure.
