Designed for use in daytime bombing missions over heavily defended enemy territory, the massive “Flying Fortress” was put into initial production during the early 1940s. Though few were available early into their service life, the assembly line would ramp up quickly once the United States entered World War II. With over 12,500 produced by 1945, it was one of the most prolific bombers to be created during the conflict. Decorated with the striking red colors of the 8th Air Force and known as "Man O' War II" from its nose art, this aircraft is an authentic replica of a B-17G that served valiantly during WWII.

Stunning and precisely detailed, this model features:

  • Highly collectable and limited edition

History and Specifications:
Entering the battlefield in high numbers during World War II, the Boeing B-17G was invaluable over the skies of Germany. Soaking up heavy damage and returning for repair, the Flying Fortress was truly that; a bane of the Luftwaffe forces during the 1940s. Escorted by the legendary P-51 Mustang in large formations, each B-17 would be tasked with destroying factories, runways, supply lines, and cities where necessary. Armed with up to 8,000 lbs of bombs, each one packed a devastating punch in conjunction with the Norden bomb sight. Assigned to the 91st Bomb Group, 8th Air Force, B-17G "Man O' War II" was deployed to Cambridgeshire, England. Completing 76 missions over the skies of the United Kingdom, the aircraft was taken down by enemy fighters on November 2nd, 1944. Though four of the nine crew members bailed from the stricken aircraft, they were all captured on the ground.
