The B-17 Flying Fortress was a four-engine heavy bomber developed by Boeing for the United States Army Air Corps in the early 1940s. It was a high-flying, long-range bomber, heavily used in World War II for daylight precision bombing of strategic military targets. Throughout it’s service, the aircraft proved extremely effective and reliable, developing a reputation of being able to return to its home base despite extensive battle damage. Demonstrating the impressive might of the United States’ air power, each one was supported by P-51 mustangs while a massive number of bombs dropped from the sky.

Though this specific B-17 never saw full service when it was delivered in 1945, it was transferred to the United States Coast Guard where it saved numerous people stranded at sea. A few decades later in 1986, the aircraft was purchased and restored by The Yankee Air Museum of Michigan, being given the name Yankee Lady and painted in the style of historic WWII era aircraft. The polished aluminum aircraft with its striking red surfaces makes a prominent sight and any airshow, providing rides for anyone that wants to experience a true powerhouse of the WWII era. Die-Cast version features an authentic livery, etched panel lines, printed decals and display stand to show the aircraft in flight. Measures 5.75”l with a 8” wingspan at 1:155 scale.
