History and Specifications:
Designed for low and high-altitude strike missions, with the largest conventional and guided munitions capacity in the Air Force, the Rockwell B-1B Lancer is the backbone of United States bombing forces. Introduced in 1985 and attaining initial operating capability in 1986, the aircraft could carry 75,000 lbs. of ordnance and travel nearly 7,500 miles unrefueled. Rated for a top speed of Mach 1.2, the Lancer features adjustable “sweeping” wings that tailor the aircraft to its flight envelope. Flying low and fast in canyons or slow and stable on approach, the B-1B is right at home, making precision strikes and escaping before the enemy can respond. Manufactured between 1983 and 1988, just over 100 aircraft were built, with 62 still active by 2026.
