The F-2B Fighter that soon followed would take on a more powerful engine that made it faster than its predecessors, creating 275hp and reaching a top speed of 123mph. Range was 369 miles, with a service ceiling of 18,000ft in altitude. The airframe’s weight would rival most motor vehicles of the era, while still maintaining a tactical speed advantage over the road going counterparts. Weaponry included a single Vickers .303 machine gun facing forward, with an additional 1-2 Lewis Guns that the observer would be able to fire offensively.
The aircraft served from 1917 until 1930, when it was retired from duty in its role as a reconnaissance vessel, being outmoded by more powerful and agile fighters to come in the next few years. Die-Cast version features raised wing supports, panel lines, printed decals, and paint scheme that reflects an F-2B operated in Egypt circa 1917. Measures 7”l with a 10” wingspan at 1:48th scale.
