Adapted to the needs of the USAF and Navy, the Douglas C-47 Skytrain is one of the most enduring aircraft of all time. As one of the many unique variants, this specific VC-47 was used for staff transport in the USAF. Painted in unique white and silver colors, O-48716 was converted during the 1970s to this VIP configuration from cargo duties, following two resupply missions over The Battle of the Bulge in 1944.

History and Specifications:
Modified for VIP transport, VC-47D aircraft feature engines with the high-altitude superchargers removed and an astrodome for celestial navigation. Converted in the late 1940s and delivered with an enhanced interior, staff were treated to luxurious upholstery and additional seating. Flying more than 1,500 miles at over 200 mph, converted C-47s made travel comfortable for crucial USAF staff. Produced throughout WWII, upwards of 10,000 C-47 aircraft were delivered around the world, with many still in action as of 2025. Remembered for their contributions to the war efforts, each and every Skytrain has left behind an undying legacy.
