History and Specifications:
Developed in a joint effort from the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, and Spain, the Eurofighter Typhoon is an all-weather single-seat fighter aircraft. Designed for multi, or “swing-role” duties, it can take on both air-to-air and air-to-ground targets in one single package. Flown for the first time in 1994 and introduced in 2003, the completed aircraft features a large delta wing and close-coupled canard design. Highly maneuverable and rated for a top speed of 1550 mph, or Mach 2 at altitude, the Eurofighter is powered by two afterburning EJ200 engines. Beginning production in 2008, more than 600 aircraft have been built of the 741 global orders.
