History and Specifications:
Developed in the 1970s as a response to the incoming Russian MiG-25, the McDonnell Douglas F-15 was intended to take hold of the skies in defense of the United States. With powerful engines, massive fuel capacity and deadly air-to-air capability, nothing would stand in the way of its superiority. By the time the MiG-25 was captured from a defected pilot in 1976, it was discovered that this menacing fighter was not as terrifying as it once appeared. It was heavy and cumbersome, with unreliable engines and poor turning performance. Racking up an impressive 104-0 combat record in 37 years of operation, the legendary Eagle is one of the greatest aircraft ever built.
