F-16I Sufa “Knights of the Orange Tail” Die-Cast Model

Developed from the Block 52 variant of the Fighting Falcon, the F-16I Sufa, or “Storm” is an advanced two-seat design with upgraded electronics, avionics, and fuel capacity. Intended to increase situational awareness with the second crew member, it was an extensive overhaul of the original F-16C airframe with situation-based improvements.

Fitted with a new electronic warfare system on the top of the jet, known as the spine, the Sufa features an increased number of chaff and flare launchers. Utilizing more powerful ECM equipment to jam enemy communications and radar from high above, the new APG-68VX synthetic aperture radar in the nose can find targets on the ground in any weather, day or night. Especially helpful in the dusty and harsh environments of Israel, sandstorms no longer interfere with combat missions. Beyond these major changes, the Sufa also takes on a Helmet Mounted Display, ALE-50 aerial target decoys, and the General Electric F-100-PW229 engine which shares commonality with the Israeli “Baz” F-15s in service. 

Serving in Operation Breaking Dawn, this F-16I is one of 102 in the Israeli fleet. Supported by the “Netz” and “Barak” variants of the F-16 and “Baz” F-15 Eagles, each aircraft provides expansive combat capability. Painted with the traditional tri-color sand and mottled green camouflage, each one is designed to fade into sandy environments. Die-Cast version has an accurate paint scheme, etched panel lines, pad printed decals, optional landing gear and display stand to show the model in flight. Also includes the full set of weaponry, including 4 air-to-air missiles, 8 guided bombs, fuel tanks, and targeting pods. Measures 8.25”l with a 5.25” wingspan at 1:72 scale.
