Known as the Death Rattlers, VMFA-235's F/A-18C aircraft perform multirole combat duties.
Introduced as the first all-weather fighter for the United States, the McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 Hornet is one of the longest lasting and capable aircraft across the globe. Decorated with the snake inspired “Death Rattler” livery, this F/A-18C is operated by the VMFA-323 squadron of the US Marines. Last deployed to Afghanistan as part of Operation Resolute Support, the 3rd Marine Air Wing is consistently ready for action, with the motto “Fix, Fly, Fight” representing their efforts in combat. Last squadron to deploy the F/A-18C in the United States Marine Corps, the VMFA-323 squadron has now transitioned to the F-35B Lighting II.

Designed for carrier operation and multirole combat, the F/A-18C has provisions for both air-to-air and air-to-ground weaponry across 10 pylons. Featuring wide, shallow sweep wings with dogtooth extensions, it is highly manauverable in close-in dogfights. Powered by a pair of General Electric F404-GE-402 Turbofans, the aircraft can reach a maximum speed of Mach 1.8 with a more than 1:1 thrust to weight ratio. Exported to several nations across the globe, it remains one of the most capable fighter aircraft ever made, with high adaptability that suits both ground attack and air superiority engagements.
