Measuring 10”l with a 7.5" wingspan at 1:72 scale, this die-cast model features an authentic paint scheme, etched panel lines, and pad printed decals. Configurable with retracted or deployed landing gear, press-fit weaponry, and display stand, it arrives fully built and painted.
Improving upon the venerable F/A-18 airframe, the advanced “Super Hornet” took on an improved shape, with sharpened surfaces, wider wingspan and lengthened fuselage. This major redesign may have altered the exterior look, but it still remains one of the longest lasting and capable aircraft across the globe. Protecting dozens of nations from enemy air or ground forces with advanced weaponry and sensor equipment, the formidable Super Hornet pulls up to 7.5Gs in a dogfight. Capable of runway or carrier operation, the F/A-18 is prepared for any needs, whether they be strike forces, air superiority, or combined engagements.

Weapons still include the formidable AIM-9 Sidewinder and AIM-120 AMRAAM missiles for air-to-air engagements, with air-to-ground weaponry like JDAM guided bombs or AGM-88 HARM anti-radiation missiles, but the Super Hornet can carry more of them and to greater effect. Unchanged is the single M61A Vulcan gatling-gun mounted in the nose, with 412 rounds of 20mm ammunition.

The new airframe of the Super Hornet measures out to 60ft long with a 44ft wingspan, making it about 20% larger. The benefit to its increased size is an additional 2 hardpoints, bringing the total to 11 with up to 18,000 lbs of combined load. Instead of the previous F404 engines, the new variants have the uprated General Electric F414-400 Turbofans, which generate 22,000 lbs of thrust each on full afterburner, increasing from the previous 18,000 lbs of its predecessor. Maximum combat range is around 500 miles with a standard pair of 480-gallon fuel tanks and ferry range is 1800 nautical miles for transport. The maneuvering airframe limit for the Hornet is 7.5Gs at any speed, but this can be overridden in emergencies at risk of damage.

Painted in a gloss black, VX-9 squadron “Vandy I” paint scheme, this test and evaluation camouflage is used for weapons demonstration in China Lake, California. This specific aircraft was shown in March 2023, modeled off of the last F-14 ever built and its black camouflage used by VX-9. This Die-Cast version has an accurate paint scheme, etched panel lines, pad printed decals, optional landing gear and display stand. Also includes various types of ordinance options, such as guided or guided bombs, AGM-84 Harpoon missiles, AIM-9 Sidewinder missiles and fuel tanks. Measures 10”l with a 7.5” wingspan at 1:72 scale.
