The Fokker E.III Eindecker, commonly known as the Fokker Eindecker, was a German monoplane fighter aircraft used during WWI. It was developed by the Dutch aviation pioneer Anthony Fokker and played a significant role in the early stages of aerial warfare. The Fokker Eindecker was notable for being the first true purpose-built fighter aircraft, specifically designed to carry a forward-facing machine gun synchronized with the propeller. This synchronization system, known as the interrupter gear, allowed the pilot to fire through the propeller arc without hitting the blades. Prior to this innovation, pilots had to use cumbersome devices to fire their weapons, often at a severe disadvantage. The Fokker Eindecker series began with the E.I in 1915, followed by the E.II and the E.III. The E.III, introduced in late 1915, was the most successful variant. It featured improvements over its predecessors, including a more powerful engine and refined aerodynamics. Please note; some parts are plastic. Includes a display stand and the Model is screwed into the base. You can remove the Model from the base by unscrewing the Phillips screw heads. Measures 6”l with an 8” wingspan.
