Seaplane flying is fun, while also challenging.
Seaplane flying is fun, while also challenging. This guide provides excellent information for the pilot that is adding a seaplane rating to their pilot certificate. Mr Fenster provides detailed information on seaplane characteristics, environmental factors, various flying techniques, and more.
Review:
This book is full of great info for the aspiring seaplane pilot. There were a few things that stood out to me specifically. The way Brad writes this, it feels more like a one on one talk with an instructor rather than an aviation textbook. The book covers more than just the bare bones of seaplane flying, and goes into depth on certain topics including nautical knot charts and wave severity charts as well as custom checklist preparations. Almost every section has illustrations to show exactly what he is referring to, and the way it is written makes it very easy to understand exactly what he is trying to convey. Overall it was very easy to follow and soak up all of the information. I would highly recommend it.
