OV-104 is the orbiter vehicle designation for Atlantis within the Space Shuttle fleet. It was named after the RV Atlantis, a two-masted sailing ship that operated as the primary research vessel for the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution from 1930 to 1966. Atlantis made its first flight on October 3rd, 1985, and completed its final mission on July 21st, 2011. Throughout its operational history, Atlantis flew 33 missions, including several important missions such as deploying interplanetary probes, delivering components to the International Space Station (ISS), and servicing the Hubble Space Telescope multiple times.
