Measuring 7.5”l with a 5.5" wingspan at 1:100 scale, this die-cast model features an authentic paint scheme, etched panel lines, and pad printed decals. Arrives fully built and painted with pre-installed landing gear and display stand.
Just before the rise of the 21st century, under a secret program called the ATF competition, two new aircraft would be created in an attempt to win the right of producing Americas next frontline fighter. They needed to be maneuverable, electronically adept, undetectable, and ready for any combat mission. The two companies of Northrop Grumman and Lockheed Martin would be the main contenders for the contract, but after rigorous testing Lockheed would win the battle.
From this historic competition would arise one of the most feared and capable fighters ever, the prestigious F-22 Raptor. With a massive, diamond inspired design and stealthy, sharp edges, it was clear that the design was intended to forgo any compromises. Internally mounted was a weapons bay with up to six AIM-120 AMRAAM active-radar missiles, alongside a pair of deadly AIM-9X short-range heat seeking missiles. With no outer weapons pylons, the sleek shaping of the Raptor makes it incredibly hard to detect, sneaking up on its enemies with little to no warning. Powerful, thrust vectored engines and advanced avionics allow the F-22 to reach the limit of the performance envelope, beyond what most enemies can muster. Able to fly over twice the speed of sound and nearly “hover” in midair while maintaining that same package allows the jet to outdo nearly every opponent it faces.
Replicated from AF03-046, which originally served in the 27th FS Fighting Eagles, it displays the two-tone camouflage of mid-2005. It has since been rehomed three times and now serves in the 19th FS of the Gamecocks. This Die-Cast version features engraved panel lines, a realistic livery, display stand, and pre-installed landing gear. Measures 7.5” in length with a 5.5" wingspan at 1:100 scale.
