Featuring an enlarged version of the iconic “delta-wing” design, the new Mirage 2000 had up to 8 weapons pylons for air-to-air ordnance. Though it was a multirole fighter aircraft, common weapons loads are a full set of air-to-air missiles, including the long range active-radar MICA missile in conjunction with the heat-seeking Magic II. For close in combat, a pair of 30mm DEFA 554 autocannons are installed under the fuselage, with an advanced heads-up display gunsight. For strike missions, up to 9 pylons are available for anti-tank guided missiles, guided bombs, and anti-ship missiles, with maximum combined capacity of 14,000 lbs.
Operated by the French “Armee De L’Air”, this Mirage 2000-5 under registration 102MK was stationed at Saint-Sauveur Air Base during the late 2000s. Last deployed as part of Operation Unified Protector, it provided assistance to the no-fly zone over Libyan territory, deterring enemy aircraft and ground forces from conflict in the region. Die-Cast version features a high-quality paint scheme, pad printed details, engraved panel lines, and surface detailing. Includes retracted or deployed landing gear, full set of air-to-air weaponry, and display stand to show the model in flight. Measures 7.75” in length with a 5” wingspan at 1:72 scale.
