Flown by the legendary Tuskegee Airmen
Piloted by Lt. Col. Bob Friend, this P-51D Mustang was stationed in Europe during WWII. Nicknamed "Bunny" and decorated with the recognizable Tuskegee Airmen paint scheme, it protected the vulnerable formations of B-17 Flying Fortresses. One of the hallmarks in WWII history, the iconic P-51 Mustang is an aircraft that adapted through conflict to defeat even the most powerful foes. Sporting a new “bubble-top” canopy, K-14 gunsight, and an additional set of machine guns bringing the total from four to six, the P-51D entered operation in Spring of 1944. Far superior to most rival Axis fighters following this upgrade, the venerable Mustang exited WWII with 4,950 aerial victories across all four models. Carefully restored, this aicraft is on permanent display at the Palm Springs Air Museum in California. Measuring 4”l with a 4.5” wingspan at 1:100 scale, this die-cast model features an authentic paint scheme, etched panel lines, and pad printed decals.
