Turbulence the whole way but it stayed put. Almost forgot I was wearing it. No issues with sunglasses. No sweat or headache from ear muffs Engine and cabin noise were lower than with my old set. Takes a little practice to squeeze ear plugs without unscrewing them.June 18, 2019Purchased
1 month agoDurability4 / 5Reliability5 / 5Performance5 / 5Ease Of Use4 / 5Value4 / 5Would You Recommend?YesVery QuietI own a couple Zulu headsets, but fly with the doors of my Legend Cub open quite often and these are perfect for windy cockpits.
The passive noise cancelling is nearly equal to the Zulus. It changes the sound of the engine to a low muffle. I had a difficult time at first getting used to not being able to detect the RPM. The Zulus allow that frequency to come in, while the Clarity makes it just a low monotone.
They are very comfortable. It takes a couple minutes for them to completely seal out the sound, but after about 5 minutes you don't even know you are wearing them. Unlike the heavy Zulus these are incredibly light on your head. Perfect for extended wear.
I found the microphone to be quite clear. It is probably the best aviation microphone I have used.
Highly recommended.February 10, 2019Purchased
6 months agoPerformance1 / 5Ease Of Use1 / 5Value1 / 5Would You Recommend?NoDid not work for meLooks light and amazing, until I used it and I became became very disappointed. I could not position the mic properly in front of my month, the ear set would come off my ear anytime I would move the mic or bump into the wire. I had to constantly be squeezing the ear piece to place back into place while flying the plane. It was a full task for me to use it and frustrating. I just sent back and requested my money.January 29, 2019Purchased

I love it! Its light, and it doesn't give me a headache like most headsets. The south quality is good through the microphone and through the ear pieces. My only complaint would be noise cancelation. I never expected it to be great due to the type of headset but its really marginal. The better your ear tips fit the better the noise cancelation. It works. It could be a lot better. Other than that this headset is about perfect!September 26, 2018Would You Recommend?YesThis is my 3rd. Favorite headset on the market. Use in Jet, Turbo Prop, and Cirrus. Quiet and comfort second to none.Wish the quality and customer service were better.September 6, 2018Purchased
10 months agoI like itWorks well. The standard ear tips work well for my ears. I also own a Quiet Technologies lightweight headset and--so far--I think I prefer the Clarity Aloft.I took away 1 star because I think the volume control box could be smaller and less clunky in general. If it's going to be that big, it should have Bluetooth connectivity and a battery. It seems very 2005.I can't give any long term feedback at this point because I've only owned the headset for a couple of weeks. I maintain my belief that the replacement tips are very overpriced. They can't cost more than pennies to produce yet they sell for $3-ish per pair. Of course this isn't significant if you're playing in aviation, but it just bugs me to feel like I'm being gouged. Same reason I won't pay $4 for a cup of coffee!August 12, 2018Purchased

I've used them for about 3 flights now and I can say they're very comfortable and earbuds provide a good noise canceling. My only "complaint" is if and when the wire gets caught in something and pulls the headset it is very uncomfortable, also the mic is very sensitive and pics up everything. Aside from that, I'd recommend them if you can afford them.July 30, 2018Purchased
1 year agoDurability5 / 5Reliability5 / 5Performance5 / 5Ease Of Use5 / 5Value5 / 5Would You Recommend?YesGreat HeadsetI've been a private pilot for 2 years. I've used ANR headsets since I have been flying. While working on my IFR certification one of my biggest problems was communications. Since I purchased The Clairty Aloft headset I could copy ATC much better! Light weight, comfortable, noise reduction, in my opinion, better than ANR. Will not return to head clamp type headsets. Also Foggles and hoods are much easier to work with.July 17, 2018Durability4 / 5Reliability5 / 5Performance4 / 5Ease Of Use3 / 5Value4 / 5Would You Recommend?YesMy Experience with the clarity AloftMy Experience with the clarity aloft headset.
I wore the Clarity Aloft headset for 7 flights with durations ranging from 1 to 2.5 hours in a number of different C172s for flight training.
Overall my experience with the Clarity aloft was a positive one. The headset was extremely comfortable to wear. Okay so lets talk about what makes this a good headset. The lightweight nature of this style is unbeatable for comfort. The headset seems to be well built and the ear piece connections well designed. The provided canal tips are comfortable to wear and reduce the engine noise in a single engine piston to a comfortable level. I experimented with both of the included sizes as well as the Etymotic Research ER38-18CL flanged eartips. I think the flanged tips were slightly more comfortable overall. According to the instructor in the plane with me the mic sounded excellent.
Okay so what didn't I like about this headset? Well the mic boom wasn’t quite long enough and wouldn’t seem to stay in place. Every time I turned my head the mic would drop just enough that after scanning for flight maneuvers, I would need to reposition the mic. This was really just a minor annoyance more than anything else and something that I think could be solved if the mic boom were slightly longer and a little more rigid.
In summary: I never used it for music, so I can’t comment on that. However, the audio clarity was excellent for in plane coms and when receiving radio calls. The mic quality was reported as being very good / loud and clear by the instructor. Best of all its comfortable.
Tips: Compress the canal tips but do not roll them. Lift up and back on the top of the ear while inserting and hold it in place until it completely expands.
What I received when I opened the box. 1 well-made case, 1 headset with GA plugs, 1 tin of the canal tips (1 pair of the small pinks ,6 pairs of the grey medium tips and 1 pair of the large black tips) and a quick start guide.
Okay so what didn't I like about this headset?July 16, 2018

Browse 7 questions Browse 7 questions and 16 answersHow does the noise reduction compare to Bose?BEST ANSWER: This is a tricky question to answer because the headsets manage noise differently. The dense foam tips in the Clarity Aloft headset cancel outside noise by created an effective barrier in the ear canal. The Bose headset uses noise dampening from the ear cups plus active noise reduction technology to neutralize certain sound frequencies. I have limited time testing the Bose ANR headsets but I own a Sennheiser ANR headset and I've tested the new AKG product.
I fly a Piper Comanche 260. It's a pretty loud cockpit. Engine noise is more prominent with the Clarity Aloft product but I do not find it annoying or fatiguing. In fact, because the headset does not neutralize the sound waves, rather it just reduces the volume, I am better able to discern small changes in engine noise. I feel more in-tune with what's going on. I also like the freedom from bulky ear cups. No fussing putting on or adjusting glasses and foggles. No sweaty ears on summer days. The weight is practically zero.
Cons: Playing music on a high quality headset will obviously sound better. These are, after all, just fancy earbuds. I have no idea how durable these will be long term but the build quality seems pretty good. Sometimes I get a little pressure sensitivity around the front of the ear on the mic side from the support wire but it tends to abate on its own. Then again, I've never been completely comfortable with the clamping force of any headset either so this is one trade-off for another.
Best I can say is order them and give them a good workout before the end of the return period. They're so simple in design that it's hard to justify the price at first but everything general aviation is expensive. The ear bud wires and housing could be more substantial to limit the risk of snapping due to getting caught on something, so they should be stored in the case when not in use. Aside from that I like them just fine. Can molded ear plugs be used in place of the foam ear plugs?BEST ANSWER: The ear plugs which come with the headset have a hole through the middle and screw onto the headset. If your molded ear plugs fit that, they might work. How do these work with sunglasses?BEST ANSWER: This is an amazing product, nothing is lighter, nothing is quieter. Make sure you use the proper ear plug. Too small and you better have a pair of tweezers nearby and a careful friend to extract them. The screw / thread is weak and it will not usually allow you to just pull them out. Big ear plug is easier to extract. Fits very well under a flight helmet.Do all the headset components stay in place during Aerobatics (Lots of wide angle head movement about all axis and +- G are why I ask)? .BEST ANSWER: Yes this headset stays in place very well for aerobatics both positive and negative. Also comfortable with sunglasses on as well. Use the provided cord clip to your harness or shirt and you shouldn’t have any issues. For some people they need the tightening strap that clarity sells but I haven’t needed it. +8/-5 and haven’t lost it yet. What is TSOd?BEST ANSWER: Stands for Technical Standard Order. It is the specifics of what the item is made of and how it is made.Do they come with the case?BEST ANSWER: Yes the bag is included. Can the boom mic be used from either the left or right side?BEST ANSWER: No the mic is only on one side.
