Great headset
I purchased these for my 16 year son who has begun is training to be pilot and me loves them. His instructor recommended them as a great set without all the expense you see with other pairs. Great set to begin with.

Best Bang for Buck
The only thing that could make them better is ANR. Best bang for the buck!

Great except the switch to move to Mono is not intuitive
First and second time I used these as a brand new student pilot I thought they were defective-only one ear was working. Right before I went to send them back I looked at the owners manual and realized there is a tiny switch which can only be moved with a ballpoint pen tip. Once I switched them from stereo to mono I had both ears working. They have been great since. But I think the switch design should be reworked. I am guessing maybe the Mesozoic era Cessna 172 I am training in doesn't put out a stereo signal? Not sure but they are super comfortable and the mike works great. Still too early to say for sure on reliability- since I just got them two weeks ago. But they seem well built.

Mic Performance poor
I have two H10-20's and an old H10-80.

The Mic on the H10-13S does not sound or perform anywhere near as good as the other three older headsets.

I understand it is stereo and have switched the unit to Mono due to the type of radios used

I have stopped using this headset it sounds so bad

I compared my first H10-13S to a Lightspeed Zulu a friend let me borrow. I could notice no difference in performance, so I bought another H10-13S. I fly a Citabria, flights average 30min-1.5hr. Love the David Clark’s.

The 'goto' and for good reason
Does what it's supposed to, and super light compared to some of the other 10-series headsets. The Gel seals work pretty well for me, flying single pistons. Only negative - there was no clip on the cable on my set, unlike the other DC headsets I've used, so it's not so easy to keep the cable out of the way. I'll have to implement a third party solution.
One more thing - yes I know that nothing is cheap in aviation, so it would be unreasonable for me to ask for a bog-standard headset to be cheaper than these are, but I am still marking them down for value, they really can't cost that much to make, so I am hoping that the value will come having after years of trouble free service. Can't judge reliability or durability on new products so they get a 3/5 for now.

DC H10-13S
Christmas present for my wife. Is comfortable for her even while wearing glasses. I used our flight school's H10-13.4 during my PP training. They were quiet yet allowed me to "hear" the engine. They were over 5 years old and showed minimal wear. In my opinion, they are the best value on the market. I purchased the stereo version since it was only $6.00 more than the mono.

I'm starting private this semester and I don't know if the radios in the plane(s) I will be training in support stereo. Can these work just like the H10-13.4, or should I just get the H10-13.4 to be safe?
Matt B on Dec 26, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I would recommend the H10-13.4 and not the H10-13.4S. The Stereo version if used in a mono system will only produce sound in one ear. I would also suggest that you ask the flight school if the aircraft support the stereo headset.
Will this headset connect to a pc?
A shopper on Dec 9, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes, you will have to connect it to the PC with the aviation to PC adapter item #6288
