I'm a CFI, so I use them weekly, regularly, and they've held up incredibly well. After 16 years, the ANR function finally stopped functioning on a long trip back east, and it was time to send them back to DC for fixing.
DC customer service is great - they are clearly past warranty, yet the repairs are at reasonable cost and go above and beyond. For less than buying the "ENC" box myself and repairing them, they are putting new ear pieces, mic, seals, mic cover, ENC box, cord, and headband on the set. Basically - new headphones minus the ear cups.
These babies are built tough. I've used them in helicopters, in airplanes, in seaplanes, and they've been exposed to what the Pacific NW throws at them, and they've held up longer than they reasonable should've.
Passive noise reduction is great - when the ENC is dead, they do a really good job of blocking ambient noise. Sure, it's better with ANR turned on, but compared to my Bose A20 (my other pair), I'd rather have the DC any day when the battery isn't working.
My only gripe is the short battery life. Quality Duracell Lithium 9V cells seem to help, but 15 hours or so is all I eek out of the unit... and 9V are not the cheapest cells any more. I wish they were USB rechargeable. I suppose I also wish there was a LEMO panel powered option for when I teach in the Cirrus...save some battery there. But aside from that small gripe, I can hardly say there's an aviation purchase that's made me happier.September 13, 2019Durability4 / 5Reliability5 / 5Performance5 / 5Ease Of Use5 / 5Value5 / 5Would You Recommend?YesExcellent Choice for the PriceMy only negatives for this head set is that the ear seals are a bit too loosely fitted to the ear pieces and can come off easily when pulling the head set out of a gear bag - easy to put back on however. The head set and mike fit just fine and there is plenty of adjustment for both. I have no criticism of the performance - its ANC works fine and the sound is good.December 11, 2018Purchased

1 year agoPerformance5 / 5Ease Of Use5 / 5Value5 / 5Would You Recommend?YesH10-13X headsetWorked well on a 25 hour vacation trip, only slight touching of the ears that was fixed with adjusting headset. Battery life with rechargeables was unspectacular and alkaline doesn't seem to be much better. I'll assume durable and reliable due to mfg history, seem well built. Now the seats are the main problem on a 3.5 hour leg!September 20, 2018Purchased

I was looking at the Bose and Lightspeed Zulu's however couldn't decide. I got the opportunity to try a set of H10 13X's. Im really happy with the purchase. They dont look at flash as the competitors, but they work incredibly well on the 172 i fly. The passive headset works well, but turn on the ANR and its a completely new set. Communication is so much easier. I tried them in front of my stereo at home (in a controlled environment) and the difference is pretty sharp. For a casual flier like me i think they are a good choice, bulletproof and work really well.July 31, 2018Durability5 / 5Reliability5 / 5Performance5 / 5Ease Of Use3 / 5Value5 / 5Would You Recommend?YesSolid purchase. Few minor nit-picksTL DR;
You won’t find a more sturdy, reliable ANR headset for this price.
After about 50 hours with the headset I am happy with the purchase. I love the way it is built, solid metal construction, feels like it will last forever. I am getting much better battery time than advertised, using plane Jane 9v I picked up at the grocery store. ANR is wonderful, ear cups feel comfortable. The negatives; the battery housing design is annoying. The cable enters and exits on the same side, total cable length is about 11 feet, so it’s something to be dealt with when I’m sitting maybe 2 feet from the panel. Initially I thought the clip on the back of the housing was worthless but now I clip it onto my pocket and it helps keep the cable mess at bay. I would have much preferred a shorter cable with the battery housing closer to the plug and out of my way. The other negative (compared to other headsets) is that it doesn’t come with a case of any kind, so factor that into your price. It doesn’t have any of the Bluetooth, aux capability of some other headsets but personally I feel that makes it more safe, less distractions. This headset may not have all the bells and whistles, but I feel I have made a good investment.January 24, 2018Durability5 / 5Reliability5 / 5Performance5 / 5Ease Of Use5 / 5Value5 / 5Would You Recommend?YesValue A+Very comfortable headset. over 2 years agoDurability5 / 5Reliability5 / 5Performance5 / 5Ease Of Use5 / 5Value5 / 5Great OptionI researched multiple headset options for a few weeks and landed on the David Clark H10-13X. I've had this headset for a few months now. I fly roughly 2.5 - 3 hours five days a week in a Piper Archer. I find the headset to be very comfortable during my flights and reliable. I haven't had any issues with the hardware. - The battery lasted about 14 hours (better than expected) for the noise cancelling function. When the battery dies, the headset reverts back to its normal (non-nosice cancelling) function. - The sound is clear and crisp. - Simple to use the headsets features (instructions not needed). Overall, this is a great headset for its price. David Clark offers a great product and warranty to boot.December 31, 2016Durability5 / 5Reliability5 / 5Performance5 / 5Ease Of Use5 / 5Value5 / 5Great headsetI have owned this headset for probably 10 years as a professional pilot, and have had one issue, sent it to Dave Clark and it was fixed without a charge (and they added new ear seals and pad for free). The best thing with this headset is that, unlike the Bose, if the battery dies, you still have an excellent passive headset, and it's built much more robustly.November 19, 2015
