Locks on to satellites quickly and doesn’t seem to be affected by placement or things that might be blocking some of the sky. When first unboxing and testing before using in the aircraft it was able to get a GPS lock, traffic and weather while it was stuck on a window in my house. The closest tower is 5+ miles away which is blocked by a hill and the majority of my house. Sentry reported “marginal” in yellow but still showed area weather and an imbedded cell about about a mile away and 1 meter accuracy using ForeFlight. The AOPA (donation promo) battery powers it for hours. Very nice if you don’t need all the extra functions of the big brother. It seemed to fire up and display traffic faster and at the correct height while using ForeFlight. A friends DUAL had an altitude error with ForeFlight. The DUAL app was causing the ADS-B altitude error. Even works stuck to the window in my car. LOLNovember 6, 2019Purchased

The mini worked as advertised. Simple setup, connected immediately to my iPad. Used very little battery power as well. Seeing the traffic really improves situational awareness. It will be a permanent fixture in my flight bag.November 3, 2019Purchased

For $200 cheaper you’ll need a power source but that is so much more worth it for how compact and small it is and it came with a ram mount for the window. Again I absolutely love it in my Skyhawk 172October 27, 2019Purchased

Considering its physical size I several location to choose from in my Beechcraft Bonanza, Which chose to used the included Suctioning Ram mount above my pilot side vent window. By using a spare USB power pack, placed in my aircrafts pocket I was all for a flight test. On the ground I noticed a green gps lite & A Amber ADSB lite. Upon takeoff Using a IPad mini running ForeFlight I instantly could other ADSB traffic a all around me in at least a 30nm radius. While my best friend piloted the aircraft I checked out ADSB weather features and noticed some light green weather over lapping the ForeFlight sectional chart. Over all I completely satisfied with the ease of installation, Integration into ForeFlight. I am a 5 star customer and Would recommend for any pilot using ForeFlight and in need of a ADSB in solution. ??????????October 12, 2019Purchased

I just used it on a round trip in Maine and it worked as advertised. Live weather radar updates, traffic alerts, and live position tracking. It gave me peace of mind and that's all I can ask for with a small but powerful device such as this. Highly recommend!Flying over KBHB with the Mini Sentry ADS-B receiver. Peace of mind on a blue sky day!September 23, 2019Purchased

3 months agoDurability5 / 5Reliability4 / 5Performance4 / 5Ease Of Use5 / 5Value4 / 5Would You Recommend?YesHaving been through 4 Stratus' I was looking for an alternative. I fly long distances and rely on weather in the cockpit. I have XM but ADS-B is easier to access on the iPad. Replacing the battery on the last Stratus did not revive it, so I began looking for an alternative. The Scout was cute and unobtrusive but also didn't work at key moments (probably 40% downtime) so was not reliable enough for my needs. The Sentry is a flimsy device but seems to work well, locking in the signal 90% of the time. It is small and light. It seems to work well velcroed to the glare shield. I didn't attempt the RAM mount as it is huge and ugly. The USB cable is a bit long so I replaced it with a shorter one to manage in my small space along with the iPad cable. Seems a bit pricy for the small device, but more convenient than a stratux and much cheaper to replace than the Stratus.September 4, 2019Purchased

3 months agoDurability5 / 5Reliability5 / 5Performance5 / 5Ease Of Use5 / 5Value5 / 5Would You Recommend?YesSo far, greatI use this in conjunction with Sporty's 10k mAh battery, MyClip iPad kneeboard, and an iPad mini 3 (wifi version, so no built in GPS), flying in a T-6B. The unit powers on upon plugging it in and has GPS signal within a minute (tested it from my kitchen and briefing space). The connection to ForeFlight/iPad is simple.
What concerned me most before buying this is where I can place it in the cockpit. I don't fly the same aircraft every time and I don't like to suction cup to the window due to the ejection seat. The only place I can really put it is in a map case or in my own pocket. I elected for a pocket on my lower leg for it and the battery.
It worked flawlessly. I had GPS on taxi and had traffic and radar visible on climb out. I've never used ADS-B features before so I was amazed-- AIRMETs, SIGMETs, METARs/TAFs....all from my pants leg pocket.
I checked the battery and it still reads full. I read somewhere this pulls 200-250 mAh. The unit does get a little warm but I've read that is common in most ADS-B units. I definitely recommend it. It's similar in dimensions (smaller even) to a credit card and about a quarter of an inch thick.August 27, 2019
