In passenger spec, the MD-11 seats up to 360 mixed class passengers across upper and lower decks, with a crew of two in the nose. Advanced for it’s time, the cockpit has an array of 6 CRT displays with multiple Honeywell VIA 2000 flight computers to ease the task of its two pilots. Powering the aircraft is a set of three General Electric CF6 engines which create around 183,000 lbs combined thrust on takeoff, with one on the tail and two under the wings. Altitude ceiling of the jet is 43,000 ft, with a cruising speed of 575 mph and a maximum weight of 630,000 lbs.
This specific aircraft was delivered to Lufthansa in 2001 with the title D-ALCC, but the operator had also received two others in 1998 under D-ALCA and D-ALCB. All three served for two decades, retiring in 2021 alongside many others to make room for new cost-effective aircraft, ending the historic 30-year production run. This Die-Cast version has an accurate paint scheme, etched panel lines, pad printed decals, and detailed landing gear for display. Measures 12”l with a 10.25” wingspan at 1:200 scale.
