History and Specifications:
By the early 2000's, 3 decades into service, the legacy C5B's and C's have been converted to the modern C5M standard, now called the Super Galaxy. In order to meet the USAF's desire for the type to fly until 2040, the modernized variant takes on the improved powerplants, decreasing fuel concumption by 20% and premitting much higher rates of delivery at each destination. These new engines are General Electric F138-100 Turbofans, which create 51,000 lbs of thrust each, or 204,000 lbs combined. Typical crew for the Super Galaxy is 7 members, with an Aircraft Commander, Pilot, 2 Flight Engineers, and 3 Loadmasters, though the craft can be flown empty without the 3 Loadmasters onboard. Cargo capacity is a total of 36 HCU-6/E "Master Pallets" or a total of 281,000 lbs maximum. Serving in the Yom Kippur and Desert Storm wars, the C-5 Galaxy has proven itself to be an instumental part of any conflict, carrying unmatched levels of cargo to places of need, Featuring a low-visibility grey camoflage with markings of Lackland Air Force Base, this C-5M Super Galaxy fulfills duties for the 433rd Airlift Wing in Delaware. Die-Cast version has an authentic paint scheme, etched planel lines, pad-printed decals, and detailed landing gear with rolling wheels. Measures 7.5"l with a 6.75" wingspan at 1:400 scale.
