USAir MD-82 Die-Cast Model

The McDonnell Douglas MD-82 is an enhanced and modernized version that started its life as the DC-9, which was first begun in 1965 as a twin engine, rear powered airliner. Named for its expected release date, DC-9-80s first launched in 1977, with first customers Swissair and Austrian Airlines receiving their aircraft by 1980. This specific model, the MD-82, is the modernized version of the original DC-9-80/MD-80 and is operated by USAir. Seating 143 passengers and with a range of almost 3000 miles, each aircraft can cruise up to 542 mph. Finally delivered to USAir in 1988, this version was fitted with several performance and capacity updates. These include a lengthened fuselage, enlarged control surfaces, modernized interior with more seats and new, more powerful engines. The improved version of the JT8D, variant 217C, produces an additional 5% thrust, which assists with the added weight and complexity of the extended and improved MD-82. Die-Cast replica features engraved panel lines, surface detailing, and landing gear with rolling wheels. Measures 4.5”l with a 3.5” wingspan at 1:400 scale.
