Developed as a joint venture between France and Italy, the ATR 72-500 is a twin-engine turboprop aircraft for short-haul flights.
Developed as a joint venture between France and Italy, the ATR 72-500 is a twin-engine turboprop aircraft. Flying for the first time in 1988 and commencing production that same year, more than 1,800 have been manufactured by late 2023. Designed with a single isle configuration and 4 crew onboard, average passenger capacity is 68. Optimized for short-haul travel, the engines are a pair of Pratt & Whitney PW127 turboprops, featuring six Hamilton Standard 568F blades per side with 2,475 shp at their disposal. Resulting performance is a cruising speed over 315mph, altitude ceiling of 25,000 ft, and maximum takeoff weight just under 50,000 lbs.
As one of six ATR 72s in Vietnam Air Services fleet, this aircraft features the blue and white livery with “VASCO” proudly scribed on the tail. Delivered in 2009 as registration VN-B221, it currently provides travel for domestic customers in the region. Die-Cast version has an authentic paint scheme, etched panel lines, pad-printed decals, and pre-installed detailed landing gear. Also includes a metal display stand to show the model in flight. Measures 5.25”l with a 5.25” wingspan at 1:200 scale.
