This Douglas DC-9 took to the skies on February 25, 1965 from Long Beach, California, and became one of the most popular and successful jet airliners for several reasons. N8990E was one of 81 DC-9-30s that powered the Eastern Air Lines fleet and helped make EAL one of the most successful and dominant airlines for decades. Eastern Air Lines, among other carriers, chose it as their workhorse due to its reliability and efficiency. N8990E was withdrawn from use when Eastern Air Lines ceased operations in January 1991, then broken up in 1994 in San Bernardino.
