Very happy I chose this. This is a phenomenal piece of hardware. It is well designed to fit most desktop configurations. I like the option to use the clamps or micro-suction cup.
The construction is solid. The base and clamps are well manufactured and don’t feel “cheap.”
Setup with X-plane 11 was a breeze. Just plug it in and go. Obviously actions can be customized, yet I was happy with the defaults.
I certainly hope Honeycomb Aeronautical comes out with other flight sim hardware because the yoke and switch panel is fantastic!August 1, 2020Purchased

Would be nice to have a matching throttle quadrant or push-pull throttle/prop/mixture with flap and gear switches.May 30, 2020Purchased

8 months agoDurability5 / 5Reliability5 / 5Performance4 / 5Ease Of Use5 / 5Value5 / 5Would You Recommend?YesOverall very nice, a great sim toolPros:
1. Well-made, good switches (like dual switches for trims- very thoughtful).
2. Mounting to sim table is rock-solid.
3. Resistance in the pitch axis is very good; roll axis is a little light, but I don't know notice it very much while actually flying.
4. The backlit red LED is a neat function. Switches on the main body of the yoke (ALT/BAT/Avionics/Lights/etc.) are robust and work well.
5. Packaging is excellent.
6. For the price, this is an outstanding value (none better, I think).
1. Positions of hat switch and large red button could be reversed. If you like large red button for A/P DISC, having it on the left would be better.
2. On Magneto/Starter switch, it would be nice if this were spring-loaded between START and BOTH. On this, you have to remember to physically move the switch from START to BOTH, otherwise your starter will remain engaged. It would increase the price of the unit, though, so this is probably a good compromise.
3. Also would be nice if there were two Magneto/Starter switches for Multi-engine work. Again, though, that would increase the price.
Verdict: I love this yoke. It's robust, feels good while flying, and adds elements of realism with the switches. For the current price, you cannot go wrong with this yoke.April 21, 2020Purchased
5 months agoPerformance5 / 5Ease Of Use5 / 5Value5 / 5Would You Recommend?YesGood yoke for X-PlaneThis is the yoke recommended by staff at Pilot Workshop and works well with X-Plane. It can be adjusted to approximate the feel of an aircraft, though no sim can do that perfectly. The multitude of switches provide ample opportunity to customize controls. The more physical switches available, the less one has to deal with mouse pointing to operate them. It's still brand new, so I cannot comment on durability and reliability. So far, so good.April 8, 2020Purchased

I use it in X-Plane 11, and it has given me much greater control for landings. Some folks complain that the Honeycomb has too much resistance in elevator controls, but I have found that if I map the elevator trim control to a hat switch on the yoke or to a lever on my companion Logitech throttle control, I can overcome the elevator stiffness easily. It feels to me that the yoke has force feedback, and getting the elevator trim in the right spot (a good training tool, by the way) makes the elevator control smooth and accurate within a band of movement. Once you get out of that band, control becomes harder, requiring you to re-trim.
I don't need the fancy lights that the Honeycomb has on its "panel", and have turned them off. They might be useful for night flying, but I haven't been doing that in my sim.
The CH yoke had a dead spot leading to lack of control in aileron movement that I found intolerable, and I could never make decent landings with it. I was all over the runway. Its return-to-center force was too strong, and I was constantly having to hold a bias against it while in the air. I eventually tore it apart and replaced its inner return-to-center springs with rubber bands, which helped, but the inner potentiometers in aileron and elevator weren't precise enough, making my landings terrible. The Honeycomb, on the other hand, is very precise.
I would highly recommend the Honeycomb yoke, and I can't wait for the company to come out with their throttle quadrant/trim control.does this have centering indentations like the Saitek yokes?BEST ANSWER: It does self Center and feels like it’s centering between opposing springs. It doesn’t have a detent such that you feel it click into a center position. Spring pressure is light near the centered position and gets heavier the further you get from centered. Once trim is properly set, it feels fairly realistic. Pulling on the yoke in the flare to land, I think it feels realistic and I’ve had the best landings I’ve ever made in the simulator with this yoke. I was using joysticks before so I have no personal experience with the Saitek yoke. How much does it weight?BEST ANSWER: Approximately 4 lbs.Is it possible to adjust the trim?BEST ANSWER: Yes, it is possible to assign trim control. Is there a way to eliminate or reduce the Dead Zone of the yoke?BEST ANSWER: This can be accomplished with x-plane. It is referred to as the null zone. Will this work with a Mac with USB 3 only (e.g., a 2019 iMac)? That's what the product page shows.BEST ANSWER: The date is supplied by the manufacturer. We can not guarantee that the item will ship on this date.Is this compatible with X-Plane 10?BEST ANSWER: Yes, it is compatible.Does it have force feedback, that is, can the pilot feel how much pressure the control surfaces are exerting in the yoke?
Got rudders?BEST ANSWER: It does not have force feedback. We have rudder peddles available from CH products or Saitek.I want to like this but I'd be switching from a Redbird yoke and the yoke shaft looks pretty small. I doubt if the feedback is sufficient to emulate a real aircraft. How much feedback is there?BEST ANSWER: The feedback is slightly less than the Redbird yoke. Difficult to measure the difference. Can this be approved to be used as a BATC?BEST ANSWER: No, it can not.
