1 month agoDurability3 / 5Reliability4 / 5Performance4 / 5Ease Of Use2 / 5Value1 / 5Would You Recommend?YesEssential for FAA tests, but obsolete compared with smartphone appsThe old manual E6B wheel device is imprecise, hard to use, and an arcane throwback to the early days of aviation. While this handheld computer was, I'm sure, a revelation when it debuted, smartphone apps, including Sporty's own, make it feel as antiquated and cumbersome as it once did to the paper device. Unfortunately you can't bring your iPhone into an FAA test, so you still need this computer for the test. But I'd never use it in flight due to tiny fonts, weak backlight, fussy buttons.August 3, 2018Durability4 / 5Reliability4 / 5Performance4 / 5Ease Of Use3 / 5Value3 / 5Would You Recommend?YesHighly suggest for written testWith the answers the FAA throws at you when taking the multiple choice written test using a manual E6B can be be hard coming up with an answer between for example 359° and 001°. The electronic E6B hits it right on the numbers (or very close) and simply round up / down for the correct answer.
This electronic E6B can be used on the FAA written and highly suggest it!June 21, 2018Purchased

Had to take a break from flying but now I'm a "rusty pilot" getting back into it. Bought a new one (I left the batteries in the old one and they corroded, ruining the computer). This flight computer is a must for me. Thanks Sporty's!April 16, 2018Purchased
